Somerset

A Norman motte and bailey castle once stood on the far hill.

Very little remains of the original medieval castle except for the 14th century great gatehouse and

the remains of several towers in the lower ward.

What we see today is the much altered 17th century manor house.

It is now owned by the National Trust.
