Caister

Norfolk

Originally a manor house. When Sir John Fastolf obtained a licence to crenelate in 1432 he demolished the family home and built himself this castle out of the fortune he made fighting in France and at Agincourt.

It is believed he was the inspiration for William Shakespeare’s Falstaff.
